?? ?? ??Marriage Not Dating(13-14)MV

They stay true to themselves as the show manages to tie up all the loose ends nicely, leaving me feeling like everyone gets the ending they deserve. Ki-tae and Jang-mi stand in their wedding finery, at an altar under a stormy sky, both of them looking angry and hurt. Ki-tae turns and walks away, leaving Jang-mi alone at the altar. While they talk, Ki-tae accidentally finds the envelope of postcards from Dad and swipes them. Ki-tae suggests they go see her father, since they now have his address. Finally he pulls over at a rest stop also against her wishes and orders lunch, saying he needs energy to endure her while she takes her upset out on him.

They reminisce over all the key points of their relationship, teasing and joking adorably. Jang-mi says she likes the small tub, and they canoodle as she says in voiceover that at that point, they still trusted each other. Jang-mi argues that the forecast predicted it would clear up, and the bride gets her way so the umbrellas come down. Yeo-reum approaches them and grabs Ki-tae in a bear-hug when Ki-tae pouts that he only greeted Jang-mi. Yeo-reum escorts Jang-mi to her waiting room, and Ki-tae overhears him say something about wiring money and gets suspicious.

Se-ah comes to congratulate Jang-mi, who jokes that her mother loves her new breast but her dad loves it more, hee.

Marriage not dating ep 13 summary

Ki-tae greets the wedding guests and gets glomped by an overly-enthusiastic Hoon-dong, cute where he and his mother are grilled by the female family members over her divorce and his not inviting his father. Dad shows up and Mom admits to having invited him, but Hyun-hee comes to get Ki-tae before he can address any of this.

They and every single wedding guest look to where Se-ah is sitting, looking very cuddly with the 3D technology sales rep on her arm. All of the wedding guests run for cover, leaving Ki-tae and Jang-mi to stand in the rain at the altar all alone. Jang-mi says in voiceover that in life, the worst things happen during the best times, but you can get through life because the best things also come with the worst. Soaked and deserted by family and friends, Ki-tae and Jang-mi just look at each other and begin to laugh.

They exchange wedding rings in the pouring rain, as Jang-mi thinks how marriage involves not just them, but both of their families. There will be lots of family issues, but marriage is worth it to be together. This goes for the parents as well as the leads, because none of them really changed dramatically; they only learned to accept themselves and take responsibility for their own happiness.

Nobody had to have a personality transplant in order for someone to love them yes they all changed some, but they just became better versions of themselves. Before, their quirks and hangups were holding them back, but they learned to take those qualities in themselves and use them in a positive way instead of letting the personality trait be in control.

Instead of giving Jang-mi personal satisfaction, this just led to her being dismissed and overlooked by her friends and family. But I believe that even though he did a lot of growing, Ki-tae still stayed essentially himself through the course of the show he simply learned how to turn his protective instincts to the people he loves rather than keep it all for himself.

But the best thing about this entire show has always been the focus on family. None of us live in a vacuum and, good or bad, our families shape and define who we are. Jang-mi and Ki-tae were dysfunctional because their families were dysfunctional - but rather than fighting the future in-laws for control like so many drama characters, they actually drew those families in and worked on healing them.

But they learned how to love and accept one another in spite of that, and maybe even because of that. The best dramas are ones that not only make you laugh and root for the characters, but make you feel something special, and I think I can confidently say that this show did that and did it well. It is in some ways the least romantic and most realistic of depictions since we have characters who run the gamut from happily wed, happily divorced, to some whose marriages resemble war buddies who are in it till the end because no one else would know their pain.

haste, repent leisure

This series is a standout among rom-coms for its fresh take on contemporary romance, its flawed characters who were allowed to remain flawed, and the lovely sense of humor that the writer and director shared-there was a cohesion in the writing and directing that was palpable, in that we were made to feel all of the right beats in all the right ways, which is actually rare.

I loved the setup, but it started to drive me nuts the way we felt trapped there. The series was at its best early on, when the humor crackled and the couple was forced to act loving on the surface while antagonism brewed underneath.

But once they started using it to misrepresent scenes altogether with footage that was a direct lie, it stopped being clever and felt manipulative; they lost meaning when I could only start counting them as fantasy sequences. At least the finale went out on the kind of cold open I had loved early on. Marriage Not Dating was a relative success for tvN it reached a high of 4. I love watching actors grow role by role, and these two had such a fantastically timed growth spurt in the same drama opposite one another.

It underscored that the secondary loveline in the drama-between Jang-mi and her future mother-in-law-was something that changed Mom as a daughter-in-law as well. I loved that the familial thread ran through the show from beginning to end, and that despite the romance being the hook, family is what we end on.

Your email address will not be published. I will miss this drama a lot. Park Seo-joon. While I found the show entertaining. I would have ripped him a new one right there. I will say the product placement for the LG portable photo printer in the last episode totally got me.

I immediately looked it up and may still buy it I bought LG G3 after watching this drama when I saw the printer.

I agree. The fact that he did all those things is just his way of showing love and concern to the ones he care for. It may not be super romantic, but that just makes him, him. Thank you DB for the recaps. I appreciated it so much. This one of the less-buzzed drama when it began but ended with a bang.

Yay, the three women being together forget dad, girl power FTW.

I agree that the big weakness in this show were the second leads, Se Ah and YR. Neither one of these characters were written particularly well - their motives were fuzzy, and they hanged allegiances and directions without notice or reason. But the acting was also very poor - both characters were played by idols, with little acting experience, and it showed.

Both of them were more concerned with looking good than showing some real emotion, and neither of them were able to give any unspoken clues about their character. I got so sick of their plastic, enigmatic smiles. I understood the rest of the characters, I felt like they were real people, and then there was Ken and Barbie. Thanks for the recaps guys! I still have to catch up on the drama, but I did read all the recaps.

This drama was very fresh and funny. This adds onto my list of most fave dramas. Gonna watch out for the leads from now on, they were fun to watch. Best ever romcom! Was consistent from start to finish. Watching this became a bonding time with my wife who kept on nagging me to check whether the latest episode was already out. This was also a great consolation after being disappointed so much with Doctor Stranger not that they have any relation.

Good directing, writing, and most of all, good actors. This drama did not have any pretensions at being life-like, or having any deep meaning. It never attempted to moralize or to stylize the scenes again, unlike Doctor Stranger. It was just plain heartwarming, and hilarious and insightful towards the end. Congratulations to all the production staff and the cast. Will look forward to another drama by the same actors. Incidentally, am not Korean. But I am beginning to love Korean culture and actors.

Have watched tons of Korean dramas. Thank you as well to all who do the subs. Looking forward to visit Korea with my wife one day. MND was a good drama. They took too long to have the OTP start dating and the angst and the two leads going around in circles aggravated me to no end. In spite of all of this I still liked this drama and when the leads did get together they were magic on screen.

They have such wonderful chemistry, I hope they are able to reunite in another drama or movie someday. They kept mentioning a plot twist so much that I thought it was going to be something epic, but all it was was whats her name getting knocked up by that one doctor guy.

That was a let down. Overall I enjoyed this drama even if some of my love for it at the beginning wore off towards the end. Even though I love this show which has ne comparing it to coffee prince.

I understand girlfriend take on the cold scene in the beginning. With everything else showing now. Probably the best thing for this ending was that not everyone got redeems in some unreasonable way. Thank you Lollypip and girlfriday for the great and heartfelt recaps. Love this series so much but wished we had more time to just savor the OST relationship for a little longer.

What a whiny self centered woman! I really loved the OTP, but the scene that by far made me grin the most was the one where the 3 women collectively kicked dad to the curb. Really really. You two said what I wanted to say and more so much better than I ever could have, especially your last lign here, girlfriday, ha. They had so many adorable, sweet, wonderful and heartfelt moments in the last few episodes and it was a joy to witness them grow as people and as a couple.

I love how much this show emphasised the importance of family. I was waiting for that. I also loved the realism in their decision to get married. I also loved the cleverness in the writing, the crazy sound effects, the awesome ost and the cute effects on screen. When this drama started I forgot about it and all the news that were posted here.

I was just checking viki and it appeared, I read the description and watched episode 1. This drama made me laugh, even cry a little and made me care for many of the characters. Ki-tae and Jang-mi are so good and so cute together, and I only can agree, the family aspect in this drama is one of its strongest angles.

Marriage Not Dating Ep 16 final sweet & romantic moment - gong gi tae & joo jang mi

Maybe is not a perfect drama but the crazy second lead and the flaws here and there never made me abandon it, because I was so in love with the good stuff that I could pass through that.

Been playing the OSTs over and over again. I admit that this drama kinda bored me halfway through it and I actually stopped watching. I had to catch up on 4 episodes at once. I love Sunhwa and Jinwoon but omg their characters are so annoying. Then the bestfriend was just annoying too. Still, I enjoyed the drama and it was a fun watch among all the dramas airing now. Despite that, I want to try loving you forever.

T like seriously, no kidding. Usually, I get bored half way through and find myself FF all the annoying and useless bits. But I thoroughly enjoyed each and every episode of this one! I mean, they are pretty annoying at times. But somehow I get the satisfaction of seeing the leads jealous of seeing one another with their own respective cockblocker hahaha.

If we were to compare, there are definitely many more worse second leads out there. The one thing I truly appreciate about the show is how it works so well to build up relationships so realistically, whether it is between a mother and son, mother and daughter-in-law, husband and wife etc.

The last episode wrapped up things pretty nicely. Loved the scene between grandma, aunt and mom. How cute! Crying and hugging each other, leaving cheating dad gobsmacked whilst they celebrate living together hahaha.

Seriously, those two are amazing. Yeon Woo Jin is so damn charming in the show, so much so that I wanna get a Ki-tae myself. A girl can dream. Han Groo did a great job as Jang-mi too. Those crazy eyes! Her movements are always so dramatic yet still somewhat natural at the same time. Looking forward to see her future projects for sure.

This is the best drama I have watched by far! Thank you for recaps! And thank you dramagods for such a zippy and hilarious rom-com. Oh, I must also thank whoever did the sound effects in this show. Gaaah, is it over already?! All in all, a great show, I hope that tvN continues to produce awesome shows like this :. Such a satisfying ending to a solid drama. I have to admit the earlier episodes were my favourite, it went flat in the middle for me but the ending was done nicely.

ain't over till

I cried when the three ladies cried when grandma finally let go of her daughter in law and cried again when mum offered to live with the other 2 ladies and left dad to go eat crap for all they cared. Sooo Good. And yay for a show that uses more than the main leads in an effective way. I liked the portrayal of the leads and their families best here - including grandma, aunt, even sleazy dad and his mistress.

Hoon-dong was funny once you get past the first few episodes where he was quite repulsive - and he did get his comeuppance in the shape of his wife insert evil grin here.

Se-ah and Yeo-rum I cared for even less except for during the beach escapade. I thought at that point they might have an interesting friendship between all of them but after that unfortunately things went back to square one.

It might be the writing, the acting or a combination of both but they have not added anything aside from being plot devices. Putting that weakness aside there are many things I loved about the show. Loved that he understood her value too late and there was no turning back. The couple who seemed like the perfect family ended up divorcing while the ones who were always fighting ended up together because they actually loved each other in their own crazy way.

It was short, cute and touching. Aw, I loved Missing You. I just watched it last week. What a fitting end to a wonderful, hilarious, and heartfelt show. Any drama that puts a smile on your face and makes your heart feel full just thinking about it is an amazing drama in my book. And I loooooooved it.

So much. What a perfect wedding hahaha! I do have to agree with Jang-mi the Yeon Woo-jin looks very sexy all wet in fact, I noticed that in the very first episode too, lol and theres something so hot about the way he wipes his face before grabbing her for a kiss. But what I loved most was the way he proposed! Such a big fan of both leads and it was so refreshing to see a mother-in-law who was not pure evil just to supply a drama with a stock villain.

Their affection for each other is real and palpable and not just for show.

Maybe cos i have sons. Same here. Cutting this into two since my comment is too long! Sigh, the episode I hate commenting on most is the last. Because it just means I gotta accept that the end is here. But oh well I loved this show; This last episode is my favourite I think, mostly because the family ties are so well addressed rather than sugar coated.

I just see it happening in real life to these characters who seem so real and alive themselves. Everyone felt organic rather than puppets controlled by a master. While I know a majority of you guys felt her character changed too abruptly, I think her main personality remained the same.

As for Yeo-rim, I was really sad he left the restaurant because I felt his bond with both Jang-mi and Ki-tae was way more powerful than some temporary jealousy. I also really loved the portrayal of friendship and loyalty here. They all looked out for each other, were there when the other person needed a shoulder. And finally Ki-tae and Jang-mi. But I can probably go on forever. Their chemistry was intense yet warm, blazing yet comfortable, easy yet charming.

Both are ridiculously talented and I expect great things from them in the future. I hope they get a chance to be main leads in network channels and take on bigger challenges.

Definitely the breakout stars of the year for me. That makes me feel better actually, which in turn makes me feel delusional LOL. Han Groo is awesome! TvN seems to really like wedding scenes in their dramas this year.

They seemed so mature in this drama. Jin Woon needs to work on his acting. He needs to loosen up and act more natural. There is nothing more intimidating than a flock of meddling ahjummas.

Their pheremones must feel confused! Anyway, they made a delightful OTP that I shall remember fondly for a long time. I super loved that Mom, Grandma, and Aunt were equally thrilled about staying together and giving Dirtbag the boot. Especially in the context of Korean family values. Loved the series. Marathoned it in 2 days. Always wanted to check it out coz the first episode recap sounds really good and am glad I get to marathon it instead.

Thanks for the recaps. I agree that both leads really gave their best in their roles Hopefully they will move on to bigger and better projects. MnD finally finished. Man, those aunts of GiTaes are so damn annoying. What a fun wedding.

publicity good publicity

Although, I would die if that happened to me. Usually, guests wait until after they get some alcohol in their system before they create a scene at your wedding, but nope, this was all sober.

Ki Tae and Jang Mi will go down as my all-time favorite couple. Their bubble bath flashback reel starting from the time they met to the time he fell for her brings tears to my eyes. They belong together. I cannot express how much I adore all the cute facial expressions Ki Tae makes. No one does it like Yeon Woo Jin. I cannot think of any other actresses who could have embodied Jang Mi as well as Han Groo.

Their back-and-forth banter looked natural. Do it. Just do it. She really has given up on Ki Tae. I may actually end up liking these people by the end of this drama.

Ki Tae was eating chicken for days I like the double irony in Ki Tae bringing Hoon Dong chicken when there is chicken in his own restaurant and Yeo Reum asking Jang Mi to run his restaurant when she her family owns a restaurant. I was offended by the age discrimination against Jang Mi, but I understand Korea is a different country where people get plastic surgery to be able to take a good picture for their resume before even being considered for a job.

The writers miraculously redeemed Se-Ah - kind of, especially during the coffee scene. Yea I too feel it to be weird. Yeo-rum being cupid? Did I watch wrong drama?? And if they manage to bring our OTP to right place, who am I to get mad.

Btw Mom sure have worst timing ever around Jang-mi, eh? Coincidentaly met the mistress not once but twice, caught Jang-mi supposedly red handed, again not once but twice. Thanks girlfriday for the super awesome fast recap! You saved me from haunting your site all week-end. I guess the writer needed to create some conflict for the remaining episodes.

No matter, this show is great. True, Ki Tae is still rich, but his practice is in danger of going out of business.

men tell tales

The focus is more on Jang Mi finding herself. Stupid move, but not terribly out of character. And Ki-tae is getting flack for using money as compensation, but Jang-mi did the same thing to Yeo-reum. You guys tapioca pearl and mo0mi make a good point.

Like Jang Mi said the Ki-tae she knows always chooses the most hurtful thing to say at all times. I am so happy with the direction the writer is taking. Game on! YWJ must be real tired with filming because the amount of breakouts and heavy make up is so obvious.

Still, KT is the cutest love sick puppy yet with wolfy desires! I think this is the first time I have ever seen an episode where the writer actually explains to the audience why a successful guy has all this free time to stalk his loved one. We always see chaebols running around doing everything but work. I loved how he try calling jm and going to her work to locate her instead of jus not doing anything after the wedding scene. Does anyone know what song was playing at the top of the hour when Jang-mi and Ki-tae were fighting?

Sure, the second leads are annoying as hell in the previous episodes. I could just watch them doing their usual, daily activities and never get bored. To top that, just throw in a lot of sexy taims, thanks. My thoughts exactly. That is something a woman would never do. I enjoyed this episode especially when KT was going to the naughty place in his mind. The fast strip and the shower scene with sound effects was hilarious.

He wanted to have cake and eat it too. He should have been kick to the curb a long time ago and get a good divorce lawyer. Finally, KT blurts out his true feelings, but I wish he said it in a different way since it sounded harsh. I love the reversal of attitudes, but it threw me regarding Jang Mi just wanting to date only.

All this time, she has been wanting to get married. Thanks for recapping so fast. After all that useless, aggravating angst. It feels really nice that we can finally get back to the we all know and fell in love with.

always wears

Yeon Woo-jin, once again, reigns this episode. I bet that right after MND finishes he will get tons of romcoms offers, left and right. So will Han Groo, for that matter. There are tons of Korean actors with faces many times more handsome and statuesque than his. But funnier and more charming? Oh, I think YR was being manipulative. That character seriously gives me the heebie-jeebies, she is so creepy. There was such a clever flip of characterization here and you saw how absolutely honest it felt because the writer s have been diligently laying the groundwork for this in a believable fashion.

When I compare this to something like Trot Lovers, another rom com with cute characters that started out silly and cute, and see where we end up on two completely different levels This episode nail it for me. Finally yr has become the 2nd lead I been wanting. An open ear for jm to complain to while knowing noting will ever happen. Hoon is still the crack up he always will be but man I feel sorry for him.

The mom still bother me tremendously in this one. If he stays by her side then she will never divorce him. Kt and jm were so cute this episode.

The kiss. Ohh we need more. The best scene to me was kt realizing that jm would never try to purposely hurt him. I was kinda nervous since we all know jm would jus enter his house without ringing the door bell even though kt keeps thinking she would so I was so surprise when he called her out for wanting to help him when she thought kt thought the same thing as his mom.

Highly recommended! Is it just me? Or does anyone else notice that during the scene when Jang Mi swatting flies, she looks like a cute tennis player holding a tennis racket. Probably only manwon. Gi Tae flashes around ohmanwon in his wallet. Ha, about the purse! My friend left her phone in the subway when we were traveling in korea, an ajumma actually went off the train to give it back to her. Maybe income gap is nonexistent in korea lol.

He realized it after he boarded the subway as the glass doors were closing. He got off at the next station and went back to the bench, but it was already gone. Reality is the huge disparity between the homeless living permanently in subway stations in their stowed away sleeping bags Seoul Station subway was memorable - there were even bonfires outside to cook their raw food in cans Anyone read it?

It says, "Lies" and "More lies" in a cross shape. I liked she smacked some boundaries on him and got upset about trying to secretly fund him, but then he threw back at her she was doing the same thing to him.

The character reversal is nice and a bit true to life. Often when your foundation gets shaked you swing too far in the other direction. The acting was so good, and there were subtle parts I really liked, such as him wiping his hand before trying to grab her hand, and then when failing, wiping it again.

How he wiped his face and then paused, then doubled down anyway, paused for permission before the kiss, the way she grabbed his waist as a form of consent The under dialogue even in the silence was well done. Which is why I watched it about 4 more times.

all grist

Im on mobile data but ive rewatched the park to apartment part for three times now!!! Aggressive nods to everything you said. I lo o o o o ve their unspoken dialogs. He "asked" for consent.

only woman, but

Not the usual forces kiss that kdramaland usually offers where the girl looks more pained than loved. Ggah im crazy for a guy who hugs before a kiss and gong gi tae did just that. I have so much respect for both leads in this show.

I went into the show not knowing who they are but now i keep admiring their acting skills. Its as if they put everything into the characters theyre playing. Like not once were they afraid to make facial expressions that might make them look less attractive.

And that just earns so many respect points from my pov. You know the director and writer trusts the actors when they use large silences in between. There were at least 3 lean ins from different distances, 2 over the shoulders, yet it was cut together beautifully.

A few times what she said and what he said contradicted their physical actions, which is just good acting overall But they both got it So satisfying.

The problem with filling your day with trying to forget the person you love is that you spend all day thinking about the person you love. Its an episode spent in denial, but in the cute way where everyone runs /5.

I want to put together a scene half so well. I noticed his shirt, too. And I have to say that the sound effects are very well placed in this drama. Even the simple scene became funny because of the sound effects. My only annoyance with this show is how inconsistent the second leads are. Like, after yeoreum deliberately hug jangmi knowing gitaes mom is watching, were now given such a sweetheart version of yeoreum that wants to work with jangmi with no other motives.

Do i trust that? I mean he didnt seem like hes ready to let her go just an episode ago. I would love for them to make peace with one another just not this fast. I would prefer to have hyeon hee being jangmis comfort during her lowest point.

The female friendship was something i loved during the first 2 eps of this drama but hyeonhee seemed to have less of an influence this time. I get that she still has her parts in jangmi gitae relationship but i really wanna see a girl to girl talk more. I watched so many video clips And is nobody going to comment on Hoon-dong hilarious little dance?

I died laughing when I saw him showing his new look to Gi Tae. What a great actor, he acts with his whole body, hahahaha! And the cleaning scene was literally the cutest scene in kdramaland ever. Though we get frustrating scenes sometimes, there are still little ones we cannot help but to laugh at. Since I love this drama, I try to observe every small thing I can possibly find.

But, those what makes him having human-like character, what makes him alive in this drama. What being positive is that at the same time, I can see my own physical imperfections as somewhat cute. They just make us different, as we are Since, we-each of us, individually-are limited editions in this world I had a friend once who commented on the movie "The Full Monty" by saying that ordinary men generally have no idea how sexy they really are.

But, those what make him having human-like character, what make him alive in this drama. I finished this episode, looked at my husband, and said "I can hear the dramabeans folks squealing from here. All you lead couple lovers had a lot to squee about, this episode. And also little backhanded digs "noona", lol. Hoon Dong was particularly hilarious. I never ever ever ever desperately waited for a drama online. This is the first time for me. Even from the first minutes in the first episode, I have fallen for this romcom.

I tried to tell my friends about this show, but it seemed they did not really like it-they adored more on something melodramatic, something I slightly hate about, and not a comedy. And, here you are guys. I have to value my eyes in seeing this drama although my friends did not like it, I find you here love it :. I agree with one of the comment here. I realize that there are still many actors who are more handsome than YWJ, but look at his expression in this show I rate it 9.

Initially, I recognized his face and did not like him in which I pushed myself to because I felt bad at his role not his acting in Arang, but I kept telling my self that I had to give him a chance My friends told me that they disliked the lead female with no reasons. I think she is brilliant and multitalented. She can speak Mandarin, English, and of course Korean.

She-although not too famous yet-can sing as well. And her face is distinctive. Her acting is well done too. The fact that the second lead actor look handsome is one of the strategies to attract audiences in case the first lead male might get failed in his act, but YWJ beat it. Tired commenting, lol. Should I need to say more? I love the lead girl. She is so I had a friend just like her. I bet we all did. Actually, the plot and characters remind me of my dating days when I was 18 : three best friends since childhood in love and dating three guys who are friends as well.

By 20 we were all married Those were the best years, when I look back. Well, at least I defied my parents and ended up with my high school crush.

My two girlfriends married the men their parents liked, not the guys they were in love with. Oddly, seventeen years later, all are still happy couples. Go figure. This show I once had too, real and alive, although in a bit different way.

We have to be grateful for the experience of having such friends I know it wiont be an easy findings to have fallen in love with a series that is on air at the same time, one which I sorely avoid and cant believe myself that I cant help with this one!!

goes must

They make me smile. Really make my day, lol. I hope that we all here feel the same I hate and felt pity for him at Arang, but here, I just love him So, you know I had to watch it again. I do get it in this instance; Jang-mi has heard over and over how she must be in it for the money so she feels that no amount of explanation is going to convince people of her sincerity.

But still, for my sake, please open your mouth and speak up for yourself. Non-Crazy Se-ah is pretty cool. Hope she stays that way. Same for Non-Smarmy Yeo Reum. I just love seeing the two of them happy together. Oh jang-mi you tease.

I watched the episode at work in the lunch room and had the most ridiculous grin on my face. Jang-mi you tease! She has learned from her own experience that rushing in serious relationships is not getting her anywhere. The last half of this episode was the best thing ever.

I squeed and laughed so hard! How many times did he piggyback Yeon Woo Jin already?! Excellent timing since the Pope is visiting South Korea this week.
